ORGANIZATIONAL FRAME

Mouvement Miel is an apicultural project that has emerged from the close collaboration between a team of academics from the student organisation Academics for Development (AFD) and our Beninese project partner: Ferme-école Solidarités Agricoles Integrées (SAIN). We are a group of experts and entrepreneurs, building up sustainable value chains for bee products from the hive to the consumer market. At Mouvement Miel we have assembled a team with special knowledge in ecological beekeeping, biodiversity, ecosystem services, quality management, teacher education, social and health inequalities, business models, business administration and sustainable value chains. Together we want to solve the  sustainability issues of deforestation, poverty, as well as bee and insect reduction in the Beninese community Kakanitchoé.

Thus, we are developing an apiary and an associated training program that can be offered by Ferme-école SAIN without the support of a western partner in the long term. In addition to our bee project, Ferme-école SAIN already has many other training programmes in place, which allsupport rural communities in the region to diversify their income streams and combat poverty.
